As part of Youth Week in May, the Ottawa Youth Council (OYC), in partnership with the City of Ottawa and local organizations, is hosting the Leadership for a Day Contest—giving high school students (Grades 9-12) a chance to shadow key decision-makers in our city.
This year we are offering two exciting Leadership Opportunities:
- Mayor for a Day – The winning applicants will spend the day alongside Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, attend city events, meet municipal leaders, and share ideas on shaping Ottawa’s future.
- CEO for a Day – The winning applicants will shadow a top executive in the non-profit or business sector and explore leadership, strategy, and decision-making firsthand.
How does a student apply?
- They must be a high school student living in Ottawa (Grades 9-12)
- Fill out the short online application form (students can apply for one or both roles)
- Submit their application by April 10
