Course Selection Launch
All Day
Assembly - Grade 9
9:00am - 10:00am
We want to ensure all students have access to important information that supports their
safety, mental health and well-being. As part of these conversations, we will be holding
a presentation to make students aware of the issue of sex trafficking and exploitation
and learn about consent, healthy relationships and online safety. While these are
difficult topics, the intention is to help students feel empowered to prevent and navigate
challenging situations and to support safe and healthy relationships throughout their
lives.
On February 10, 2025, Grade 9 students will attend a presentation delivered by A New
Day, a local organization dedicated to anti-human trafficking work in our community. The
presentation provides students with information regarding child sexual exploitation in
order to both protect and empower young people through knowledge and resource
information.
The information shared is in line with the Ministry of Education's Keeping Students Safe
Policy Framework. You will find more information on this policy on the Ministry of
Education website at:
https://www.ontario.ca/document/education-ontario-policy-and-program-direction/policyprogram-memorandum-166
We recognize that this can be a challenging topic. We will have our school's
professional support staff onsite and available to connect with students as needed
throughout the day.
If you would like to access further information on anti-sex trafficking, you can visit our
website to find information for parents & caregivers. We know that working together
with families is key to supporting and protecting children and young people.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or
another member of the administrative team Sam Laggis or Julie Prankard.
Sincerely,
Robin Small, Principal
