
The summer work student exchange is a national exchange that allows youth to get work experience, explore a different province, and improve their second official language.
The cost of the program is $200.
The exchange is 6 weeks from early July to mid august.
The applicants must be 16 and 17 years old. The program give youth opportunity to:
- Travel
- Gain work experience
- Practice Second official language
- Earn money Ottawa is a particular case and the youth could potentially go to Quebec to practice their French or to another Anglophone province to practice their English.
The youth are match with a family in the province they go to. Similarly the youth’s family is matched with a youth that will come to Ottawa and stay with them.
During the 6 weeks of the program, we find a full time job for the youth.
The job will be at nonprofits where they will make the minimum wage of the province they go to. During the weekend and some weekday evenings, the youth will do group activities with the local coordinator.
The activities are to explore their new community and get to know each other.
