COMMUNITY UPDATE - Friday, October 3, 2025

Dear Families,
Thank you for another great week at Glebe. We look forward to more sunshine in October, and are eager to share the many exciting things happening in the school.
Special Olympics Soccer Qualifiers
The Special Olympic Soccer Qualifiers were a success! Nine Schools participated from across the Ottawa Region, and Special Olympics Ontario Lead Johnny Byrne was on hand to share opening remarks along with our Superintendent Prince Duah, and our Learning Support Services Superintendent Kate Stoudt. Students shared their favourite moments from yesterday, “We loved scoring goals!” “We came in with an ACDC song!” “I loved winning some games!” “I like being cheered in!” Track and Field qualifiers are next!
Student Photos & ID cards
Student photo packages and ID cards were given out this week. Your student should have them. If the student missed the photo days in September, there is a re-take day on October 22 when they can get their photo for the yearbook/ID.
From There and Back Again - Documentary Premiere at Glebe Collegiate
Join us for the premiere of this documentary film, where Glebe Collegiate History students help to tell the story of John Edward Tayler alongside his son, friends and family.
From growing up in Edmonton to his three and a half years as a Japanese prisoner of war in World War II, John has a compelling story of leadership, determination and inspiration. If you plan to attend, click on the link and follow the instructions to politely RSVP.
The cost of admission is free. It will start at 2:45 with a reception, a short program at 3:15, and the documentary will commence at 3:30. For those unable to attend and who wish to see the documentary it will be uploaded to https://jthp.ca/ on October 27th.
Remembrance Day National Broadcast - Operation Remembrance
On Remembrance Day, Glebe History students, Comm Tech students and the Choir are invited to participate in a national broadcast at the Chateau Laurier to showcase their short video about John McCrae, with a special focus on his poem "In Flanders Fields” This video will be posted on Youtube under the Operation Remembrance page.
