Special Olympics Soccer Qualifiers
Glebe students as well as students from across the Ottawa region will be participating in the Special Olympic Soccer Qualifiers hosted at Glebe on October 2nd. There are 9 schools participating with 138 athletes!
Glebe Collegiate Day at Atlético Ottawa
A reminder to come join the action this Saturday September 27th at 1pm as Atlético Ottawa takes on Cavalry FC at TD Place and show your school spirit at the same time!

Remembrance Day National Broadcast - Operation Remembrance
On Remembrance Day, Glebe History students, Comm Tech students and the Choir are invited to participate in a national broadcast at the Chateau Laurier to showcase their short video about John McCrae, with a special focus on his poem "In Flanders Fields” This video will be posted on Youtube under the Operation Remembrance page.
Learning Opportunities
We are offering additional courses to students who want to earn additional credits.The deadline to sign up for additional learning opportunities is October 7th as courses begin the week of October 13th. Here is the LINK to the list of courses. Don’t miss out on an amazing opportunity!
Oral Reading Fluency Support
All grade 9 students will have the opportunity to do an oral reading fluency diagnostic test as part of the work we do to support literacy. This will occur during class in the second week of October.
Bus Passes

Fall Into Reading BINGO Challenge
The Library Fall Into Reading BINGO Challenge starts on Monday, September 15th and ends on Friday, Oct. 10th. Students can pick up a BINGO card from Ms. Barber in the Library to participate. Students can complete a horizontal, vertical, diagonal line or the whole card. Once they finish their card, they are encouraged to complete a form in the Library Google Classroom to be entered into a draw to win a book. All students are welcome to join.
Research and Writing Help
Research and Writing Help is taking in the HUB at lunch on Thursday, Oct 2nd. All students are welcome to drop in to get help with research and/or writing help.
Wednesday Boxing Club 3:15-4:15 Starting October 1
Glebe’s Boxing Club is starting back up October 1st. Students are invited to come participate in boxing activities with a professional coach. Please note there is no sparring. All are welcome. Students should come changed in gym clothes with a water bottle to room 119 Wednesdays at 3:15 to participate.
Fresh from the Farm Fundraiser
Looking for a way to support Glebe Collegiate Institute and give back to the community? GCI School Council is once again launching the "Fresh from the Farm" fundraiser, which supports buying from local Ontario farmers, helps to raise funds for school needs and also offers an option to support our neighbours in need at local food banks like the Centretown Community Food centre. Last year, due to the tremendous generosity of our community, 150 bundles of produce were delivered to two community food providers.
On offer we have fresh apple and vegetable bundles which will be available for pickup at GCI later in November (exact date to be confirmed). If you choose to donate to the local food centres we will deliver on your behalf.

Electronic Waste Recycling
Glebe students are running an electronics waste recycling drive this Saturday, September 27th at Kunstadt in the Glebe to raise money for a great Ottawa organization, Heartwood House. Instead of sending e-waste to landfill, folks can drop off used computers, cables, TVs, phones, cameras (anything with a battery or plug), etc at Kunstadt parking lot between 10-2pm on Saturday. This is the third year and many Glebe residents are always very keen to participate!
