International Students

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) has been serving students in the capital region of Canada for over one hundred years. We provide international students with the opportunity to choose an educational path that best suits their interests and goals. Students can choose to come to Ottawa to graduate from high school or for a shorter period of study to improve their English and cultural competency.

OCENET/GLEBE International Student Rules

- International students are expected to follow the same rules as Canadian students set out in the Student Handbook.
- International students must bring a written note from their host family or custodian each time they are absent. They are not exempt from this rule even if they are over 18. International students are subject to Ottawa International Student Program (OISP) rules.
- Extended absences (5 days+) must be approved by the principal. The parent/custodian must write a note to explain the reason for the absence and give it to the main office.
- Frequent absenteeism will be reported to the guardian and the OISP office as well as the student`s parents via email.
- International students must take a FULL timetable and must strive to maintain a minimum C+ average.
