Each year, a graduating student is selected as the Valedictorian to speak on behalf of the graduating students. The role of Valedictorian is an important one and the selected student must be able to represent and honour the graduating class of 2024.
Nomination Process
There are two ways that a graduating student can be nominated for Valedictorian:
⮞ Interested students can self-nominate by following the directions outlined below.
⮞ Another graduating student or a staff member can nominate someone. If this is the case, please follow up with the student you are nominating and ask if they accept this nomination. If they do, ask them to complete the application process, as outlined below.
⮞ Please note that a total of three students graduating from Glebe Collegiate Institute and three staff are required to endorse the application.
Criteria
The Valedictorian for our graduating class must:
⮞ be a grade 12 student and graduating from Glebe
⮞ have demonstrated extracurricular and consistent positive leadership experiences; and,
⮞ be able to represent and honour the graduating class of 2024
Requirements
In order to be considered for this year’s Valedictorian, candidates must have:
⮞ three students graduating from Glebe Collegiate Institute endorse their application (please note the student nominees’ OCDSB Gmail accounts are needed for the application form); and,
⮞ three staff members endorse their application for this role.

June 17th at 4:00.
Selection Process
Selection of this year’s Valedictorian will be through a student vote process. The vote will take place on
June 19th by Google Form (one vote for each student who is part of the 2022 graduating class). Please note that the student write-up for each candidate will be shared with the grade 12 student body. The Valedictorian will work with a staff advisor to prepare their remarks to the Class of 2024. The Valedictory Address will be presented at the commencement ceremony on June 27th.
